What are Cubs?
Cubs is for young people aged 8 to 10½. Our Cub Pack is organised into smaller groups called Sixes, each with a Sixer and a Seconder who help lead their team. It’s where young people start to take on more responsibility and tackle bigger challenges.
Cubs enjoy a programme packed with games and activities, with plenty of time spent outdoors. Camps, hikes, and badge days are highlights of every term.

What do Cubs do?
Our Cub programme covers a huge range of skills and activities:
- Camping trips and outdoor cooking
- Hiking and orienteering
- Team challenges and wide games
- Badge work across dozens of activity and challenge badges
- Community projects and good turns
- Archery, climbing, and other adventurous activities
- District and county events with Cubs from other groups
Cubs can work towards the Chief Scout’s Silver Award. the highest award in the Cub section, recognising commitment across multiple challenge areas.
Meeting details
A typical term
Each term combines regular meeting-night activities with at least one outing or camp. Cubs might spend a few weeks working on a specific badge, then head out for a day hike or a weekend camp. The programme balances structure with fun. there's always time for games.
